Science this week

Hi, students! We've been learning about matter this week in science. I found a great book with information about matter. Here's the link:

Let's see if we can access the book and learn more about matter!

Back to School

We're BAAAAAACCCKK!

Yes, all us teachers have gotten back to San Jacinto. Our building looks much different -- the carpet is GONE from the walls, and a bright, cheery yellow makes the whole place look new.

Tomorrow, we get together as a group at Sterling High to hear Dr. Sultis' message for the new school session. It's always fun to see friends and colleagues again, even though it's only been 2 1/2 months since we were together last.

More later this week . . . stay tuned!

Two Weeks, more or less

It's almost time for a new school year to start. I'm always excited about a new beginning. This one will be different -- I'll be in fourth grade, and I will have a few familiar faces from my class year before last.

Our open house and orientation is scheduled for Saturday, August 23. I hope all parents and students will come to school that day -- Ms. LaChapelle, Ms. Beeler and I will have all the information you need to make your first day and week of fourth grade a success. Be watching for information from Ms. Robins and Ms. Salazar.

Stay tuned, Fourth Graders! I'll be back with more information soon!

A new principal, a new year

Although we still have six more weeks of summer break (yea!!), I'm looking forward to the new year. I'm going to miss Suzanne Keith, but wish her well at Victoria Walker Elem. A couple of friends teach there, and that's to their benefit.

But . . . last Monday, I met our new principal, Ms. Becky Robins. Kids, you are going to love her. She is happy to be at our campus, and I'm excited about her being there. So be ready for a great learning time.

BTW, I hope to send a snail mail to each of you so you even know about this blog. I want you to use it to keep up-to-date about our class and our school.

I've promised my family that I'd stop doing school stuff for the month of July, so I may not post again til August, but stay tuned!

Teacher mania

I kinda get caught up in things, and this past week was no exception. Once I went to the Earth/Space science workshop in Seabrook, I was off and running. To the extent that my family wants to know why I can't just chill out; it's summer, after all.

But I'm a nut about science, and I'm so excited about fourth grade this next year. So there you go!

Jumping off the deep end

Well, today I learned how to start a blog. I guess. I'm still not too sure what I'm doing, but the Instructional Tech folks (hi, Richard, Denise and Alicia!) got me all inspired. Since I'm more or less jumping off the deep end into 4th grade, I may as well do this too.

Man, did we learn a lot of cool stuff at Computer Academy! My mind is TIRED; sorta like last week when I was knee-deep in relatives, looking for family tree "branches" and "twigs."

If I even use half of what I learned this week, my kids are gonna be scrambling to keep up with the 'way cool Mrs. C. Ha!!
